How much a nurse can make as a travel nurse
The American Nurses Association estimates a nurse’s salary as a minimum of $69,000 a year, or $34,000 more than the national average.
However, the organization says it doesn’t break out a nurse salary by location.
Travel nurses are paid more than a physician assistant, registered nurse, nurse practitioner and advanced practice nurse.
They also earn more than many other positions.
In general, nurses are not paid as much as physicians, but their work is also more complex, and they can take on more patient care duties.
In some states, nurses must be licensed as an emergency medical services nurse or a registered nurse in order to practice.
However states can waive this requirement.
Travel nurse salaries range from $54,000 to $77,000 depending on the state, but the American Nursers Association says most states pay a salary of between $51,000 and $69.5 million.
Some states, including New York and Massachusetts, have higher pay levels than others.
The National Association of State Travel Nurses says it has seen a trend of more recent states moving to pay more for travel nurses, including Texas and Utah.
