Mango Cucumber Margarita

In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo today, I decided to whip up a delicious natural margarita with a twist! Living in Sweden, it is hard to find margaritas and the climate here doesn’t really give you “margarita feelings”.  I was raised in the south in the US where margaritas are a classic summer drink. I was also raised listening to Jimmy Buffet (if you don’t know him, just look up Margaritaville) pretty much non-stop. Needless to say, I love a good margarita sitting by the water on a warm summer’s day with some Jimmy Buffet playing in the background.

Even though I love a classic margarita, I decided to mix it up a bit and create a simple recipe that is both refreshing and delicious! It only requires 6 ingredients and no refined sugars, just natural sugar from mango. Who said a margarita couldn’t be healthy?!

I made the margarita without alcohol yesterday and it was very refreshing to drink on my balcony in the sun. Later tonight, I will certainly have some tequila in it but it makes a great alcohol-free drink too.



I am also in love with the taste of doTERRA’s Lime essential oil. Just the smell of it reminds me of summer days and puts me in an uplifting mood. Their lime essential oil is cold-pressed from the peel of fresh limes.

Not all essential oils are safe to ingest but doTERRA’s are certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils meaning they are only using pure ingredients and no synthetics in their oils.

doTERRA also has certain oils, like lime, that are safe to ingest as directed. The oils that are safe to ingest from doTERRA are clearly marked with a supplement facts label and will indicate that they can be used for internal use in 4 fl. oz of liquid.

I love keeping my lime handy the kitchen because I don’t always keep limes on hand. It is a wonderful supplement when limes are expensive or are not in season. It really gives that perfect zesty lime flavor without all the store bought preservatives and processed sugars found in store-bought limeades.

Mango Cucumber Margarita

Natural margarita with no refined sugars or additives. Deliciously refreshing on a warm day and makes a great non-alcoholic drink option too!

Servings 1 pitcher


  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 mango
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1 Cup lemon sparkling water flavor is optional
  • 5 drops doTERRA Lime essential oil
  • tequila optional
  • ice optional


  1. Wash & cut the cucumber & mango into smaller pieces. 

  2. In a blender or with an immersion blender, combine the chopped cucumber, mango, 1 cup of regular water and the doTERRA Lime essential oil and tequila (if making alcoholic).

  3. Blend the mixture until it is smooth adding ice if you want a frozen margarita. 

  4. Pour the mixture in a large pitcher and stir in the cup of sparkling water. 

  5. Top off with lime wedges and rim the glass with salt if you prefer. Enjoy! 

Recipe Notes

Tips: If some people want the drink virgin and some want it alcoholic, make the batch non-alcoholic. Then, pour a shot of tequila in the individual glasses for an alcoholic version and mix the margarita mixture with it.
